RS Watanabe was founded in 1967 by Toshiyuki Watanabe. Using self-built cars, Watanabe set a number of track records in Formula, FL, FJ-1300, F-3, and FP-2000.

Starting in 1972, the company began producing lightweight magnesium wheels for racing. Today, their signature eight-spoke aluminum rims are widely adored by enthusiasts. 

Utilizing their knowledge with magnesium alloys, RS Watanabe has expanded into other areas, such as auto parts, sporting products (golfing), and more.
