This causes problems such as friction loss, chain guide wear, and valve timing delays, leading to horsepower loss. This idler gear replaces the chain guide with a reinforced needle roller bearing type sprocket that is resistant to high loads and high RPMs, thereby maintaining good valve timing, less friction loss, and improving high output and high RPMs.
